Catch the Comet Game

Catch the Comet Game craft

Make a fun scoop game for budding astronauts! Kids' imaginations will soar when they create this craft for a space-theme birthday party or a family picnic.

  • 1.

A day before the party, ask an adult to cut the bottoms off of at least two plastic gallon milk jugs to make scoops. If possible, make a personalized scoop for each party guest. Use Crayola® Glitter Glue to decorate the scoops with stars, moons, and planets. Dry.

  • 2.

On party day, your guests create their own comets from colored Crayola Model Magic. Try kneading two colors together. If you stop mixing midway, you get a marbled look. Press small dots of a different color into the comet for space dust. For a rough texture, poke and shape the surface with your fingers, or use craft sticks.

  • 3.

Use Crayola Scissors to cut strips of colored ribbon. Embed the ribbon ends into the comet by pressing with a craft stick.

  • 4.

To play the game, hold scoops by the handle with the bottom up. Place your comet in the scoop and toss to a partner who tries to catch it with another scoop. See how well you can Catch the Comet!
